Sandra Oh is known for her comedic rolls in film, as well as her iconic portrayal of Dr. Cristina Yang on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Sandra seems to live a charmed and successful life, but this has not always been her experience. Her parents didn’t want her to pursue acting. In an interview on “George StroumboulopoulosTonight,” Sandra shared that she decided to not use this as a barrier to her dreams.

Like a true badass she stated, “When you have the two most important people in your life telling you that you can’t do something and you do it anyways, then it just doesn’t matter what anyone else is really gonna say.” When Sandra first went to Hollywood in the mid 90’s, one agent told Sandra to go home and consider getting plastic surgery.

One of my favorite badass moments in Sandra Oh’s life happened at age 19, early in her acting career. Sandra arrived for an audition for The Diary of Evelyn Lau. When she got to the audition she asked, “May I have a moment to collect myself?”

She then lay down on the floor for five minutes! You may be thinking did she get the part? She did! In fact, the director later reflected that she admired someone so young who could pull of such a risky move at an audition.

Sandra is such an amazing, confident badass! She knows how to ask for what she needs to take care of herself, and she doesn’t let others’ criticism or doubt stand in her way.

When not hanging out with the Badasses in my FB group, I’ve been enjoying the gorgeous fall we have had here in Asheville, NC and I’ve been baking gluten free, sugar free pumpkin bread!
